China society - sleep on street

This picture was taken on a street in Xian China. How the guy was sleeping on a curb caught so many pedestrian’s attention. It took several people quite some time to wake him up. He said, pollutions were so bad in the city; he chose to sleep this way for breathing more oxygen.

Perhaps this was a pretty good protest against serious pollutions, but what he said just doesn’t make sense. As exhaust fumes from busy bus operations there could easily bury his head, where was he going get the oxygen from?

I can only say it is another bizarre thing happened in the society.
