On June 27, 2009, a 13-storey new apartment building in Shanghai fell in one piece. After falling, the building was laying on its back, mysteriously causing no significant damages to the structure other than being turned 90 degrees.  The accident killed one, no injury has been reported.

What has caused this brick structure building to fall remains unclear. Many different speculations are flowing around. Flooding, unstable basement and special geological condition are among the possibilities. City government just started an investigation.
