Plaque: computer company receives USCA 2009 best of Ypsilanti award in marble stone material category.“…..Amtech Computers has been selected for the 2009 Best of Ypsilanti Award in the Marble Building Stone category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA)…..”

We received a press release from U.S. Commerce Association, announcing our computer company receives 2009 Best of Ypsilanti Award. We should feel good about this honor. I couldn’t stop laughing……not for the award, but for contents in the press release and in the actual plaque they created.

First. Amtech Computers is a name we haven’t used for almost ten years. We changed “Amtech” to “Amlink” in 2000 to associate with our parent company, Amlink International Corp. We just couldn’t figure it out why USCA had not updated our company name in their database for so long.

Second. A computer company receives a award in “marble stone material” category? That’s too funny. I know they must have mixed up Amlink  (Amtech) Computers with our sister company, Amlink Marble. But, how are we supposed to hang that plaque in either marble or computer showroom?

Third. According to the press release,  we were selected for the award because they believe we have “achieved exceptional marketing success” in our local community and business category. I am not sure if a nearly 30% drop in revenue, due to stone business’s close tie with house market, is an exceptional marketing success. I would feel rather sad if it is, as this would indicate the economic condition in a broad sense has been much worse than I thought.
