Have you ever opened up a really weird website and wished you had never seen it? Unfortunately,  I’ve had chances to visit several crazy sites recently. I would put a list of top 10 together. If you are a website designer, I guess you may contact them to offer your services. If I have included your website on this list please don’t feel offended –  you got a link at least, and potential traffic, too. I am only commenting on the appearance of your site, not the content. What I said here are just my opinions. You may disagree. We can discuss.

Watching this website’s homepage is really painful. It was on my screen for only several seconds. But that was enough to make me dizzy to death. Would you hire VF’s designer to design your websites?

Its not really clear what or who Franz is but you won’t miss that “Home” button. It flashes like crazy.  There is another flash on the bottom left. I looked at it for a minute and still couldn’t figure it out what it said. The title of this homepage is nice and descriptive, though.

MSY is an Australian technology company boasting “more than 10 years in the computer industry”. Unfortunately their definition of “computer industry” clearly doesn’t encompass web design as pages such as this one selling Flash memory and other assorted products demonstrates.

Fabric Land website has to be among the worst websites I have ever laid eyes upon. In all my years of surfing the web, going right back to 1995 I have never seen so many colors, flashing boxes, or meaningless marquees. There are even dancing Santa’s on there.

I don’t know this online ministry website. It seems to think that making people blind will help spread the faith. They even helpfully provide a series of well designed banners for you to use when you link to them.

This extremely image-heavy Norwegian gadget site appears to have more pictures, photos and images than flickr. I guess it has a pretty big file size as most pictures displayed used the html image resizing. It didn’t seem to render properly in any of my browsers.

Ling’s Cars really tries hard to provide a personal touch to her car leasing website. Unfortunately, it ignored a few of the user friendly features on more conventional sites. Just try navigating through a few pages and you will see that the mass of information at the top isn’t just on the homepage, its on all the pages. Helpfully, Ling had created a nice guide on how you should be building your site: “Most business make mistake of paying a company to build page, without learning. Learn! Modify, change. Don’t pay the idiots to do this, do it yourself. Treat webpage like business office or shop. If you want to move a desk in office you move it. Put calendar on wall, you put. Do the same on website. Do every day. So simple. All your customers can see this. They get “feeling” from it.”

To fit in my list, this website has the best tile: “Worst Homepage Ever”. Its description tag is quite interesting, too: “Sorry about this annoying banner all over my site but it was either this or a pop up one and I know how much all of you hate closing the pop up windows…” I must say this might be a great way to monetize a website. What do you think?

Yapeer is a homepage which lets you put little mini screenshot homepages within it. The layout is simple and lacks a logo. The digg widget in the corner is distracting and the ajax is buggy. Also, it’s really pointless since you can’t read any of the mini screens. More interestingly, this page is available in many different languages.

That’s all in my Favorites. I counted only to 9. Would you add one for me?
