Walking on tightropes
Samat Hasan, a 24-year-old stuntman from the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, walked on a tightrope in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province on April 25, 2009. Walking on a 2300 ft long rope with a 1.2 inch diameter and set at a 39-degree gradient, Hasan successfully broke the Guinness World Record for aerial tightrope walking.
I must pay great respect for this young man’s braveness. Needless to say, walking on a aerial tightrope is extremely dangerous. In the history, a number of performers had lost their life during such a adventure.
Walking on tightropes is life threatening. But people walk on “tightropes” all the time. To me, chance-takers are all tightrope walkers. They may survive good if succeeded and fall into cliffs when screwed up.
O.J. Simpson walked on tightropes. He walked away safe for some reason in that murder case fourteen years ago but fell badly in the recent armed robbery case.
Madoff had been walking on a tightrope for decades and eventually crashed into a jail cell just days ago.
Hitler was walking on a tightrope when he decided to invade Poland, ended up with the outbreak of World War II in Europe.
North Korea is now walking on a tightrope by isolating itself from rest of the world. We know that consequence could be severe.
Perhaps, we all have to walk on tightropes from time to time. If there is only one tightrope available leading to a safe place from where we stay, which is the edge of a cliff with a crowd of wild wolfs behind us, I am sure everyone will grab that tightrope without a hesitation.
Our economy has been walking on a tightrope for quite some time. When government decided to pump cash into the financial system, we were all put on that tightrope. If the economy recovers before an inflation hits, we will walk through safely. If the situation progresses other way around, another great depression will be unavoidable. In that case, what’s going to happen to us? We will all be detained on that tightrope for a long period of time.

Damn, that sound’s so easy if you think about it.
